Broken PS3 Empty Broken PS3

Post  Maverick515 Wed Nov 19, 2008 8:42 am

Second time in 10 months!!! Sad

No warning, no nothing, playing GRID last night online with Ace and PNewson, the loading screen appears for a bit longer than usual, in the end decide to quit game. PS3 was not happy with this decision and beeped twice at me, before the TV went black, even pressing the button on the console would not force it to power off.

Switched it off at the back for 30 seconds (its an IT thing) and powered up, everything looked okay, until GRID did not appear under games. Tried a few other games, DVDs, nothing. Gutted, and this time I didn't even put a dodgy porno DVD in it Wink

Now waiting for my replacement.

On a plus side I can still play Warhawk until it turns up and all the demos I have installed.

No Battlefield.

And there I am boasting about SONY build quality at work to the XBOX owners!

Broken PS3 Empty Re: Broken PS3

I would probably have slashed my wrists if mine went wrong again. . I could not live without my playstation for 3 whole weeks like you'll have to. My took 5 days last february to get fixed.
I did think that playstations were more reliable than the xBox. I've just today had one of the 360's back from germany from repair. It had a new motherboard fitted, under waranty for the second time, and my other sons went wrong in the summer for the second time.
As for your imported ps3 , you keep your broken one untill they send you a new one? Thats not as bad as being without anything.
I tried warhawk on demo and to be honest dont think i'll be bothering with it. Do you not have any other demos on the hard drive? If not I supose you could download a few, some can keep you occupied for quite a while.

Just been thinking, what'll happen to all your saved games and any games that you may have paid for that you downloaded? If you get a new PS3 you lose all the stuff on your hard drive.

Well, as this is my second one, any paid for downloaded games, you just install again.

Go to PS Store and download history and choose the ones you want, done this before with Warhawk - I must admit I was a bit adamant as to what would happen.

All my game saves will have to be archived - done this before too, last time it took over an hour and the file size was 17GB!! So I'm not sure whether to bother, the only major save file I have is Burnout, but I'm not fussed about doing that again, I completed all the bike challenges and have barely touched the surface with the car challenges.

All my games I play online, I barely play offline, mmmmm, just remembered GTA, nearly completed that, might have to save that one.

I have spoken with Play today and the re-seller is going to either give me a full refund which I don't want or buy and send me a UK 80GB model so at least my warranty claims in the future will be easier - let's hope I don't have to use the warranty again. I will find out tomorrow.

We will have to organise another GRID evening, I need to re-take my drift crown Very Happy

I have got a shed load of downloaded, but not installed demos to play, so got some stuff to keep me busy, will probably be on Warhawk tonight though.

As you state in your earlier post, Warhawk isn't everyone's cup of tea, when I first played it after buying I was a touch disappointed, but I perservered and now I quite like it. The real bummer is - it doesn't play full screen, you have to use expand on the TV.

And all this fuss about getting 1080p TVs for the PS3 and so far only GT Prologue and a couple of downloaded games use it.

Was contemplating getting the PS2 out of the attic, going online with my 10 metre network cable and playing the original Battlefield.

Broken PS3 Empty i feel for you

Post  PhilN Wed Nov 19, 2008 4:10 pm

my orginal 60gb died due to the disc drive, but because it was under warrenty I got sent a 'refurbed' 60gb to replace it in a couple of days, i wasn't happy about it. BUT I did buy my 40gb PS3 a month before my 60gb died.

I only use my 60gb for GT5 Prologue and MGS4. It also has Sony's Continuous Play Insurance on it, just in case *runs towards some wood, and other lucky charms*.

Mainly using my 40gb these days as I have 3 year insurance from GAME, where I brought it from.

We do need to do more on GRID, it was fun.

PSOnes and PS2s are more realible. There is a bad batch or batches of 60gb PS3s where the lazer knackers up, one batch the serial number starts with 03. (what my orginal was in, my 'new' 60gb is 08, 40gb is 05)

Broken PS3 Empty Back on tonight

Post  Maverick515 Wed Nov 26, 2008 10:26 am

The new 80GB has arrived!!

Will be back on tonight - after downloading all of the updates - YAWN!

Mmmm, what to play first.

Been playing GT3 on PS2 - how awesome is this game, it's much better to play than GT5. Looks sh*t on a 37" LCD TV though.

Will be GRID or BFBC tonight.
